GRATITUDE: CELEBRATING A TRADITION OF GIVING BACK

However worthy, no cause can flourish—or survive—without the dedicated efforts of those who believe in it. In this sense, Marketing EDGE is most fortunate. Since our founding in 1966, this organization has benefited from the vision and guidance of our industry’s most innovative leaders. They have given generously in every sense—time, talent, and the financial wherewithal to turn ambitious plans into useful realities.

Throughout 2012–14, our benefactors have continued their long tradition of generous support. During these past two years, hundreds of donors contributed more than $3 million to support our programs and activities—an uncommon investment in initiatives that shape our industry’s future leaders. Indeed, their contributions have made these past two year’s advances possible, in terms of the continuing excellence of long-standing programs and the remarkable impact of new ones highlighted in this Annual Report.

What does this generosity mean? Consider the following:

  • Over the past two years, more than 8,000 young men and women have benefited from seminars, workshops, immersion experiences, scholarships, and career placement services made possible by our donors’ generosity;
  • At the same time, dozens of rising academics—next-generation leaders in marketing scholarship and research—received teaching resources, valuable awards, encouragement, and fellowships thanks to the resources provided by our contributors;
  • Never before have we seen the introduction of such robust new programs to support the truly vital work of expanding this organization’s efforts, forging new initiatives, and scaling our reach to serve a growing number of worthy young people to the advantage of our industry, which will need to offset forecasted declines in well-trained professionals;
  • Perhaps the pinnacle of our two years—and the one-year anniversary of our new name—was our June 2014 Rising Stars, where more than 400 industry leaders converged at 583 Park Avenue to celebrate the year’s honorees and the 30-plus student attendees of the I-MAX program. With our first-ever Twitter sponsor and wall, we even achieved “top trending” status for our #2014RisingStars.

Truly, it is work well-done, but there is so much more to do. We hope this Annual Report is something more than a record of the last two year’s achievements. Let it serve as an expression of gratitude to those who share our vision, and a call to action on behalf of the next generation of aspiring colleagues, who will benefit from our organization’s strengthened efforts.
